New Beginnings: Energy Work for January 2021

I have heard so many people say they will be glad to see 2020 go, assuming that 2021 is going to be better. It could be, it depends on what you learned in 2020.

You see life lessons don’t just go away because the calendar turns. Our lessons follow us. Plus the upheaval of 2020 was a start, not an end. Again, what happens in 2021 is going to depend on how you approach it.

Each month, I share a guide to the Energy Work we can do based on what’s happening in the month.

Here are my suggestions of what to clean-up from 2020, plus where to focus, and how to focus for January 2021.

Clean It Up

January is always the perfect time to review, release, reset, and renew. Especially coming out of 2020, I highly encourage you to carve out some time to focus on your 4Rs. I’m giving you some guidance and steps here to clean it up, but I also do an annual *live* program where I lead you through a series of energy work steps to help you prepare for the year ahead. If that interests you, you can find out more here and sign up.

Review

  • What worked?
  • What didn’t work?
  • What did you discover about yourself?

2020 was so good for this. Some of us learned that we love being home, some of us learned we need to touch people. Some of us learned we are highly adaptable and others that we are not. This is important and helpful information. We are not fixed entities, meaning, we are not stuck as we are. When we identify what does work, we can build on that. When we identify what doesn’t, we can use energy tools and mindfulness to create real change.

  • What were your disappointments?
  • What were your joys?

Release

  • Use an energetic magnet to pull out anything you are ready to let go of.
  • Burn the pages you just wrote on.

Reset

  • Align yourself.

Imagine a beam of light running from your tailbone to the top of your head. Let the light bring you into energetic alignment.

  • Bring yourself into present time.
  • Collect yourself up from the past, from past experiences, disappointments, losses.

Renew

  • Set out your intentions for the year ahead.
  • Be specific. Set out intentions for every aspect of your life.

New Beginnings

Throughout the year, there are many opportunities for New Beginnings. We have our birthday (one of my favorite New Beginnings) we have the Winter and Summer Solstice, the Spring and Autumn Equinox, Chinese New Year, Rosh Hashanah Spring Time, each New Moon, and of course January.

Spend some time in January considering:

  • Who do you want to be?
  • How do you want to be?
  • What do you want to create?

Once you’ve thought it through, be sure to write down your answers to these questions. There is something very powerful that happens when we move the energy of what we think, through our body, and then imprint it on paper. It mirrors the energetic manifestation process — it starts as energy, moves through a conduit, and manifests (thought — energy; conduit — hand; manifests — appears on paper.) Then this process is again mirrored to bring your desires to fruition.

January’s Goddess: Jana

There is never just one Goddess for a month, but I like to tap into the energy of the moment and choose one that resonates strongly with where we are at and what we are working on as a collective.

Also, remember, when we work with Goddesses we aren’t giving our power over to them, we are working with them to learn something new about ourselves. That’s why I call this work, ‘The Goddess Within Energy Work.’ If it exists ‘out there’ it exists within us and our empowerment comes when we find that energy within.

The Goddess Jana, is the Goddess of Doorways, Journeys, and of course, New Beginnings.

Jana helps to bring clarity, insight, awareness, and perception into our lives.

You can create your own guided meditation to work with Jana (just remember you aren’t asking or begging her for help, you are connecting with her energy to support your own growth. I have also created a Jana Guided Meditation for you here.

If you are creating your own consider these elements:

  • What doorways are you ready to walk through?
  • What journey would you like support on?
  • What part of your life would you like illuminated?

Numerology

2021 is a 5 year.

5 is a number of change. Don’t groan, you had to know we aren’t done with the upheaval 2020 brought. When I look at 2020, it’s like someone pulled the tablecloth out from underneath the dishes, which got tossed up in the air, mixed up, and now as we enter 2021, it’s all starting to land, only things are not where they were originally.

2021 is calling for us to anchor in, to ground, to root not only ourselves, but also new ways of being, seeing, and living.

We need to create a new foundation from which we will move forward and grow.

Blank slates can be scary, but if you think of it as a beautiful piece of rich soil just waiting for your intentions to be planted, then make it won’t look so scary.

If you’ve felt called to do something differently, that’s a calling to really consider.

Consider

  • What would it look like?
  • How would saying ‘yes’ to it shift things?
  • Remember we have Jana energy to support us in walking through new doorways and on our journey.

The Big Takeaway?

As we step into 2021, life isn’t going to magically get better just because the year changes. That being said, we are primed for some big changes, if we take the time to set the foundations needed from which we can grow.

I’m hearing the Maren Morris song The Bones. ‘If the bones are good, the rest don’t matter…the house don’t fall when the bones are good.’

Our big takeaway is this:

Clean up from 2021 (we all need it,) reflect on what you really want in your life, reset yourself, and then set out the intentions for what you really want.

As you move into 2021, focus on creating the foundation that is necessary for you to manifest what you desire. (Remember, when you ask for something, it isn’t a passive action. You don’t ask and then it shows up (well, the clearer you get, it can actually happen that way) you have to follow the threads that come and walk the journey that unfolds.)

2021 is about anchoring in the change that will create a solid foundation for your growth.
